PROSPECTUS 2008

A CALL FOR PLEIN AIR PAINTERS:

A Plein Air painting event will be held, rain or shine in northern Baltimore County, Maryland’s beautiful horse country, on Thursday, June 5th, Friday, June 6th and Saturday, June 7th.   This region of the country, dotted with horse farms as well as rural villages and historic buildings, is known for its beautiful countryside of rolling hills and clear blue skies. Additionally, the communities of Sparks, Glencoe and Monkton are home to the Gunpowder Falls, a premier trout stream connecting two reservoirs. A walking and bicycle trail through woodland and state park follows the meandering path of the river.

The ‘Paint Out’ will be followed by a Reception and an Award Ceremony for the artists and their guests on Saturday June7th, from 4-5.30pm. A ‘by invitation’ reception and award ceremony will be held in the evening from 7-9pm for the exhibit and sale of the artwork.  Ten artists will be invited to join this reception.  The Receptions will be held at Diddywopps and Keeffers, 1901 Monkton Road, Monkton, MD 21111, a fine art and craft gallery in the heart of Monkton.  The gallery invites the artists to exhibit their work through Sunday the June 8th. Sponsoring organizations will retain a 50% commission on all sales.

ABOUT THE JUDGE
Nancy Tankersley has graciously agreed to judge our event again.  She is an accomplished painter as well as co-owner of the South Street Gallery in Easton, Maryland.  She started her career as a portrait painter, but since 1987 has been combining her interest in the figure with that of the landscape. She has had eight solo shows in five commercial galleries, and is a member of many art organizations, including Washington Society of Landscape Painters and the Art League of Alexandria, Virginia. In 2004, she was one of the primary organizers of the first annual Easton Plein Air Competition and Arts festival and continues to be the Competitor Chairperson for that event.
