Third Annual Gunpowder Falls Plein Air Painting Competition

Thursday, June 4 to Saturday, June 6, 2009

Come and paint the magnificent landscapes of northern Baltimore County while supporting important efforts to preserve them.  Whether you’re an accomplished painter or a hobbyist, you will find hundreds of beautiful vistas and many fellow artists who share your passion.

The north county is crisscrossed with rural roads that wend their way through farmland and forest, over turn-of-the-century bridges and past colonial era homes. Sparkling streams wind through pastures where horses and cows graze and the picturesque Gunpowder Falls River flows through ancient stone outcroppings on its way to the Chesapeake Bay.

This is truly a place that will stir your creative soul and it’s just half an hour north of Baltimore City!

Sparks Glencoe Community Planning Council and North Baltimore Arts Foundation celebrate the beauty of this area and hope to create awareness of the fragility of the landscape through this event.  We believe that artists are the eyes of the world and are critical to the environmental, social, and economic health of our planet.
